Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. is a national organization of registered professional nurses and nursing students founded on October 16, 1932 for the following purposes:

  • To encourage the pursuit of continuing education among the members
  • To have a continuous recruitment program for nursing and health professions
  • To stimulate a close and friendly relationship among the members
  • To develop working relationships with other professionals groups for the improvement and delivery of healthcare
  • To identify a corps of nursing leaders who will function as agents of social change on the national, regional, and local level.

Delta Eta Beta (Collegiate) Chapter
The Delta Eta Beta Chapter was chartered on the campus of South Carolina State University (SCSU) on March 28, 1996, as the first undergraduate chapter sponsored by Delta Eta Chapter.  The charter president was Letra Davis, The faculty Advisor was Dr. Mildred Fennal, and Beta Sponsor was Vanetta White.  The charter chapter had 20 members.
The Delta Eta Beta chapter developed many service projects in an effort to implement the Sorority’s motto, “Service For Humanity”.  The primary service project was a clothing drive held during the Fall semester to provide warm clothing to a local Homeless Shelter.  The chapter members also collected canned goods to give to a local food bank.  Beta members also participated in Health Fairs and programs in the local area taking blood pressures and distributing health information.
The Nursing program at South Carolina State University graduated its last class in 2014.  Therefore, there is no longer an active Beta chapter at SCSU.
